New camera = better pictures

We got a new camera and I've been playing around with it, trying to learn how to use it. Here's a few pics of the girls I took with it. I can already tell such a different in the quality of pics.

One more Happy Birthday Stas post...

With all the excitement surrounding her birthday festivities I forgot to tell you that Stas is a big girl now. Literally. She is 30" tall. (Taylee was 29" at her 18 month check up.) That means she is quickly catching up to her big sister. They'll probably be the same size by her next birthday. She's in the 75th and 40th percentiles for height and weight. Long and Lean. Maybe she will be tall like my brother. (He's the tallest out of every one in either of our families.) Just speculating here. It's fun to think of all the changes this next year will bring her. I'm going to keep taking her Monthly Birthday photo's. Except I've decided to change locations and her outfit. She's a little girl now. She needs to have some clothes on! That will be fun.

Moving on...Stasiya is talking a lot more. Making sounds. Not words yet. She is feeding herself more and more, which makes my life SO much easier although MESSIER. I have to sweep the floor EVERY DAY now. That is a new phenomenon. She is CLIMBING onto anything she get get herself on. Chairs. Tables. Beds. Stairs. Ladders. She loves the slide at the playground. Going down backwards on her tummy is her favorite. She could do it all day long. She thinks she is a big girl and likes to do everything her sister does. Including standing on stools to help Daddy cook. And to get her teeth brushed. She doesn't like to be "bugged" though. I have to tell Athelie on a daily basis, "Leave your sister alone." Etc. I'm sure this will only increase as time goes by.

I'm excited to finish her yearly scrapbook and to get it printed. I'll show you pics of the finished product soon. Stay tuned...

Happy Birthday Anastasiya!

I can't believe she is 1! She is such a big girl now. The first year flies by. With SO MANY changes. It has been so fun to see her grow and watch her little personality emerge. I wasn't sure what it would be like with the 2nd. But both Marc and I are smitten. We love her. She makes our family whole.

I thought it would be fun to look back at her past year. Here's some of the best posts about her 1st year:

This picture.
And this one too.

For her birthday we celebrated by taking the girls to the Children's Museum. The girls had LOTS of fun. So did Marc and I which is a major bonus. Marc cooked a red snapper with roasted veggies for dinner. And then of course we had cake. (Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom to see the video of the Happy Birthday song and Stasiya eating her cake!) Here's the pictures from the day.

 There we are.

There's a lot more we did/a lot more pictures, but I'll leave those for another day...

Have you noticed all of Stasiya's curls lately?

Back at home after a LONG nap. The girls enjoyed their yummy dinner. We sang happy birthday to Stasiya and then we ate cake!

Yep, that's cake in the hair. And the BIGGEST smile ever.

Taylee thought it would also be a good idea to pick up the cake and eat it with her fingers too.

Happy Birthday Stasiya! Mama & Daddy love you!

Making Noodles with Daddy x 2

Remember how Athélie likes to help Marco Polo aka Daddy make homemade noodles?
Now...both girls are getting in on the action.
Every thing Taylee does, Stasiya wants to do too.

There he is. Making yummy noodles.

Doing "Jobs"

Even though Taylee has been potty trained since last summer (before her 2nd birthday) she has still been wearing a diaper at nap and night time. Marc and I have been working with her to keep her diaper dry. We knew she could do it. She just needed some motivation. So...we started paying her. She gets money if she does her "job". Which is to keep her pants dry. Since we started doing this, she's only had a few wet/poppy diapers at first and now none at all! Wooohooo! Major score. She gets so excited too when she has money to feed her pig aka her piggy bank. So after doing this for close to a month, we figured she probably had enough money saved up (including money from birthday's ect) that she could take her piggy bank to the toy store and pick out a toy. We made a big deal out of this. We wanted her to feel proud of her accomplishment. And to feel extra special too.

counting "money's" with Daddy

After walking around the store for quite a while, she finally picked this baby doll.

In the car on the way home:

She was so excited about "Baby Doll" (that's her name). She played with her all afternoon. And couldn't fall asleep during naptime. She was definitely hyped up. She ended up falling asleep on the couch at 5:30 last night. Of course holding baby doll.

Sweet Girl.

Stasiya's feeding herself these days

She likes to use a spoon or fork. She actually does a pretty good job too. Except for the fact that she makes a HUGE mess. She also seems to prefer her LEFT hand. What?!?!? Is she going to be left handed? I don't know yet. But we'll see.

Playdate with Ella

Athélie's friend Ella came over for a playdate last week. The girls had lots of fun playing together. They loved playing with the baby dolls and kitchen/food. It was so cute watching them interact together. (And also learn to share and play together.)
